An Unexpected Beginning
The story of Moment Mats begins not in a yoga studio or a meditation retreat, but in a 35-foot Georgetown Forest River Motorhome named George. In the wake of the pandemic, our founder, Annie Law, and her family joined the ranks of those seeking adventure and freedom on the open road. Their plan was ambitious: a year-long journey across the country. However, life had other plans.
Just two months into their 12-month odyssey, unexpected challenges forced Annie and her family to return to their home state. It was here, amidst the abrupt change of plans, that Annie encountered a formidable adversary: complete and total burnout.

The Birth of an Idea
As Annie sat on her homemade mat day after day, she started to become more mindful of her surroundings. She noticed the peace within the present moment and the clarity that began to emerge in her mind. Gradually, her energy started to return.
Encouraged by this progress, Annie began implementing more self-care practices into her daily moments. She explored journaling, meditation, breathing techniques, and even somatic spinal stretching. She attended yoga classes, learning about its origins a

This realization sparked a mission in Annie: to create a tangible reminder and dedicated space for others to pause and reconnect with themselves. In 2021, she began developing prototypes for a product that would serve as both a practical tool and a gentle nudge to "take a moment."
Annie's vision was clear: we don't need fancy gyms or meditation classes to heal or regulate our nervous systems. While these can be helpful, they're not for everyone. What is universal, however, is the need to take a moment for oneself - perhaps the most important yet least prioritized activity in our lives.
